The hungry caterpillar.  (16/05/2013)
We have been reading the story of the hungry caterpillar this week, and brought the character to life with a large replica of a caterpillar and a butterfly. The BBeebies used different types of media such as tree bark, pastels, tissue paper and of course glitter.
We have talked about the butterfly needing to be symmetrical and our grownups explained this meant that our butterfly needed to be the same on both sides. We were encouraged to look at shapes and painted fabulous circles, squares and triangles on to our butterfly.
Outside we continued to look for mini beasts and ventured onto the school field to explore different areas. We left no stone unturned, and gathered information on a bug spotting sheet to look at in small groups back aboard the ark - we are now very good bug explorers!!!

This week.......  (10/05/2013)
Our mini beast laboratory has been a roaring success this week. The BBeebies have enjoyed exploring the outside area and have found lots of bugs to investigate in our lab.
We took our new soft play outside on Tuesday, and as always loved our hall time where we had the large blue mats, and balls and balloons to play with.
Our growing activity this week has been to put a growing bean into the correct sequence, from a tiny seed, to a large bean stalk. Our grown ups think we are getting very good at doing this and even did great colouring to go with it!

The chicks are back!!!  (02/05/2013)
This week our grownups brought our chicks back for a visit. We could not believe how big they had grown and we were all very excited to see them. It was such lovely weather they were allowed to go outside in our new garden area, but we needed to keep an eye on them to make sure they did not eat all of the fabulous seeds we have been so busy planting.
Our role play area is now a greenhouse, and we even have our own giant sunflower that we have made out of a range of different seeds. We have continued to read Jack and the Beanstalk and are now retelling the story to one another.
The letter and sound this week is S, and we have had different foods at snack to help us with this sound..... Strawberries, Sausages and Spaghetti with bread Soldiers.

This week  (26/04/2013)
This week we have started to plant an assortment of vegetables in our new garden area outside. We have been busy emptying the old pots of weeds to make way for the flowers we would like to plant. Our grownups helped us to hide seeds in different places around the nursery, we have even put some in the dark cupboard to see what will happen to them..... Will they grow?
Inside we have been painting and stamping with a range of fruit and vegetables and had a great time rolling a coconut and a Swede covered in paint along the paper to knock skittles down!
Our letter and sound this week has been an “A” and we had to go home to find something to bring into nursery with that sound, we were so clever we found an aeroplane, some apricots and an abacus. In our hall time we enjoyed the large apparatus where we used the spring board and climbing boards. On Thursday we all used the large parachute and worked together to play different games.
Our story this week was brought to life with the help of a puppet. We all enjoyed listening to the story of Jack and the beanstalk and the giant puppet was great.

Welcome new BBeebies.  (19/04/2013)
Welcome back everyone - can you believe we are now in the summer term!?
We would like to welcome all of the new BBeebies and hope their time in the nursery will be a happy and fun filled time. This week we have started to look at how things grow and the differences in seeds, and in the fruits and vegetables they will become. We have talked about all the elements that are needed to enable them to grow.
At snack time we tasted sugar snap and fresh peas and looked at the differences between peas from a packet and those really fresh and ready to eat. Our hall time this week was a very noisy affair exploring beats and rhythms using the African drums, we had a great time.
On an end note please can we remind every one that now the warmer weather has finally arrived (fingers crossed) that we BBeebies come to nursery with a named sunhat and sun cream to either leave at nursery or be brought in each session in our bags.

Getting ready for Easter.  (27/03/2013)
What a great week we have had, making marshmallow Easter bunnies, and painting eggs for a hunt.
On Wednesday we joined the school for an egg and spoon race and made our own boiled eggs at home to bring to the nursery for everyone to see.
We have listened to the Easter story and have talked about giving and receiving chocolate eggs and why we do this at Easter time.

We have hatchlings  (22/03/2013)
What a fabulous week we have had, we are now the proud owners of 14 beautiful black and yellow chicks. The eggs started to crack on Tuesday and our 1st chick came into the world later that same day. The BBeebies have followed their journey from start to finish, and have now watched as the chicks have been moved from the incubator into their very own chicken coup.
The whole school have visited the nursery and the BBeebies have had great pleasure in telling them how they need to hold them, and that they needed to wash their hands after stroking them.
Our grown ups are very proud of how we have taken care of the eggs in the incubator, and we have been very gentle with them in the coup.
Also this week we have made our very own chick using lots of wool to make a pom- pom. It was a little tricky weaving the wool around the two circles but we were very pleased with ourselves at the end result. We have even made straw nests for them to live in.
In our hall time this week we made lots of noise/music, and had a great time using the African large drums, moving to the beat. Our grown ups tell us we had great rhythm.
Finally we ended the week with a Spanish Day. We joined classes 1 and 2 for fabulous salsa dancing… “Olay”

Comic relief.  (15/03/2013)
This week we have joined the whole school in the challenge for comic relief.
We had the chance to try out rowing, cycling and running machines to help the rest of the school complete a triathlon throughout the week it was such good fun.
On Friday we all dressed up in red so we could raise money for comic relief, we all looked fabulous especially with our painted on noses.
Outside we have made the most of the windy weather to make and fly kites as well as making our very own rockets out of junk modelling. We also used wind socks and balloons to show us how strong the wind can be. Inside we have made a baby clinic in our role play area, and have enjoyed weighing and measuring our dolls.

Being healthy.  (08/03/2013)
We have been keeping healthy this week from doing our daily wake and shake to looking at healthy and treat foods during snack time. We have really enjoyed learning our disco moves and some of us are even trying these out at home. On Tuesday Jake's little sister came into visit us. We found out that she does not eat food, instead she drinks special milk from a bottle. After our visit we enjoyed bathing and dressing the babies. Thursday was World Book Day and we dressed up as a character from our favourite book. Also this week we have been making something special for mummy. Sssh don't tell her it's going to be a suprise.

Finding shapes!  (01/03/2013)
This week we have been looking at shapes, and the shape of every day objects in our surroundings.
During our hall time we had to run to a circle, square, triangle, rectangle and our new shape - a pentagon! -when our grown up held up the shape on a white board. On Thursday we went out around our community to find shapes. We soon discovered they were everywhere!
Also this week we have concentrated with self-care, putting our own coats on and trying really hard with the zips and buttons. After our hall times on Wednesday and Thursday we all managed to put our socks and shoes on with very little help from our grown ups.

Valentines day !!!  (14/02/2013)
Love was in the air this week as we made valentine biscuits for our loved ones, we decorated them using heart shaped cutters and wrapped them beautifully in cellophane for our loved ones to enjoy.
Tuesday was of course Shrove Tuesday and we talked about the meaning of Pancake Day, and all enjoyed pancakes for our snack with different toppings yummy! Outside we have been making sound shakers and experimented with how sounds can be changed. Using different lentils and pulses we filled pots with different quantities to explore the difference.

Out and About....  (08/02/2013)
A visit to the park and hot chocolate on our return was such good fun this week. We are getting so good at lining up and staying in a beautiful line to walk around the school. On Monday we ventured down to the wooden adventure park and went on a bear hunt around the school field.
In our free flow area our grown ups helped us to make our own obstacle course and encouraged us to climb jump and cross different equipment, and talking of jumping our hall time on Wednesday saw us using the spring board and landing mattress to experiment with jumping and rolling. It was such good fun even our grown ups had a go!
In our room we have continued to look at the weather and had the chance to dress the cardboard dolls in different outfits for the appropriate weather……… do we ever stop?

What's the weather?  (01/02/2013)
This week we have been looking at different types of weather. We have been investigating what we wear and how different weather can sometimes make us feel.
Outside we have made our own rain catchers to measure how much rain fall we have had each day throughout the week. We even used rain water instead of tap water to play with. We have used different media to help us make our display even using acetate to create weather pictures.
Our role play is now a weather station and in our hall time this week we had a fantastic obstacle course and talked about how hot we were once we completed the course.

Number recognition.  (24/01/2013)
This week we have been practising our numbers, we filled up the duck pond and used the fishing rods to catch the ducks. Each duck had a number on it and our grown ups helped us with our number recognition.
We also made skittles through out the week using empty drink bottles, we added coloured water and soon discovered the more water we added to the bottle, the harder it was to knock it over with the bowling ball. By adding the numbers 1 to 10 on each bottle we knocked them and tried to tell our grown up which number we had knocked down, we are getting very good at this.
At snack time on Wednesday we enjoyed making our own fruit smoothies adding fruit we had cut and chopped ourselves.

Lots of physical play.  (17/01/2013)
At the beginning of the week we made the most of the cold dry weather and made a visit to the local park .We all had a lovely time using the climbing frame, swings, round about and slide, our grown ups were so proud of us as we walked beautifully together through the school grounds and took turns with all the park equipment. We all came back with lovely rosy cheeks and big smiles on our faces.
The new BBeebies also saw their first hall session and had a great time using bats, balls, hoops and large balls. They also followed the keep fit exercises on the projector screen.
Each morning we join classes 1 and 2 to share all our toys and participate in lots of different activates we have such a busy time in the foundation stage!!!

Welcome everyone!!!  (11/01/2013)
Welcome back every one…….and a big warm welcome to our new BBeebies.
We have started the new term with some old favourites such as play dough, shaving foam and of course water play for our new friends to explore new texture and smells they may not have been familiar with. We have all helped one another and the older BBeebies did the grown ups proud ensuring that the little ones enjoyed their first few sessions at nursery.

Dancing feet!!!  (20/12/2012)
Our last week is nearly over and we have partied to the max!!!
Tuesday saw us enjoy a magician, a wonderful Christmas party spread and a smashing disco in the school hall with our grown ups. Through out the rest of the week we have continued our festive dancing with disco lights in our nursery.
On the last day we thought we better rest our dancing feet and take it easy so we had a duvet day!!! We wore our pyjamas and enjoyed hot chocolate, marshmallows, pop corn and even had gingerbread essence to add to our hot drinks. We watched Polar Express and had a truly great last session before the Christmas break.
Our grown ups in BBeebies would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and carers for all the lovely cards and gifts they received, and wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas. They look forward to seeing all the fabulous BBeebies in the New Year.

Wahaaaay…… the nativity play with classes 1 and 2 this week was a roaring success , our grown ups must have been so proud of us as we all showed so much confidence and did our teachers proud. (How cute did we all look in our costumes?)

Firework fun!  (09/11/2012)
This week we have had lots of fun using cotton wool balls to make an exploding fire work collage outside. We have also pretended to be flying fireworks using ribbons and streamers making the sound of them shooting through the sky.
In our water tray we added coloured acetates and imagined it was slimy seaweed, we also added vanilla essence too, and told our grown ups that it smelt really yummy!!
We helped make paint this week out of corn flour and warm/cold water we added food colouring to make some great colours in which we made pictures to take home.
Our role play is now outer space and we have even had some great silver spacemen outfits to transform us into astronauts.

A visit from Father David.  (25/10/2012)
We have made buns and pizza’s throughout this week and have talked about harvest festival.
On Tuesday we had a visit from Father David who talked to us about sharing and caring for others. We sang the bendy banana song and even danced the harvest samba!
