Busy, busy, busy!  (17/05/2013)
What a week it has been in class 5, the children have been showing us all they have learnt during Literacy and Numeracy. During Science the children have been using ICT to find facts about the living things they saw at the beach. We then drew them in Art and wrote out the information we had found, this lovely work is now displayed in our classroom. The children enjoyed a trip to the park as a reward for their extra hard work this week.

Living things at the farm.  (13/05/2013)
This week class 5 went on a trip to Lobb's Farm at Heligan. Although it was quite a blustery day we made the most of every minute and learnt so much about 'living things' at the farm which is our topic this term. Firstly we were split into two groups, one which stayed at the farm and listened to a very interesting talk about the farm and the other went on a tractor ride around the farm. During the talk we learnt that the family have lived on the farm for four generations and all three brothers live on different parts of the farm. We learnt about the crops grown, the animals reared and the birds and smaller creatures like toads and newts that live on the farm. During the tractor ride we saw the farm in action, we saw the cows and a bull as well as sheep and chickens. We had a quiz about what we had learnt and then had our lunch. We played in the fields and then came back and enjoyed some fun puzzles all about the farm. A very big thank you to Mrs Parish, Mrs Bromage and Mrs Fletcher Groves for helping us on our day out.

A load of old rubbish!  (23/04/2013)
Ever wondered what happens to the rubbish at school? Class 5 investigated this very question this week. We went outside to see where Mr Stone puts our rubbish. As a school we take recycling very seriously and we are encouraging the children to do the same. We found out that we recycle as much as we can but some things are general waste.

We're going on a...bug hunt!  (23/04/2013)
During Science class 5 went on a mini beast hunt this week and what a lot of mini beasts they found. There was some squealing and some cries of "I don't want to touch it!", but most of the children got stuck in and managed to find all sorts. We then had a look through a magnifying glass to see all the different parts of the bodies.
