    Our Curriculum

We carefully consider each individual child’s unique learning journey, thinking about their current stage of learning and development. This then enables us to provide a curriculum which is specific and tailored to meet the needs of the children. By following the children’s emerging interests and themes, we are able to adapt teaching to meet children’s current next steps and teach specific skills, whilst also providing inspiring and engaging high quality learning experiences.

There are seven areas of learning and development in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework:

    • Communication and Language
    • Physical Development
    • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
    • Literacy
    • Mathematics
    • Understanding the World
    • Expressive Arts and Design
    Reading

You can help your child with the early stages of reading by promoting a love of stories and books. Discuss the characters and events when sharing books with your child at home and visit the local library for an endless free supply of new material. We also offer our own home library which you are welcome to use, ask a member of staff for more details.

    Mathematics

You can encourage your child to engage with the early stages of maths and number in many ways. Help your child become aware of the relationship between number and quantity and try to use mathematical words. Tasks like counting objects (toys in the box, for example) and playing games like snakes and ladders will also help with readiness for developing number sense.
