At Bishop Bronescombe, we are courageous advocates! This means that we speak out whenever we feel there is an injustice. This could be that we speak out against plastic pollution, or speak out against litter being dropped in our local area; but it also means we speak out against anything that we believe to be unfair.
Courageous advocacy isn't just about speaking out, but also acting upon an injustice too. Our children are very passionate about injustices in the world and want to make a difference within their community, but also in the wider world.
The children have done lots of things to demonstrate that they are courageous advocates, and as a school, we support lots of charities; international, national and local.
Sometimes our collective worships focus specifically on being an 'Agent of change'. We think about what being an 'agent of change' means, and then we look at different topics in which we may need to be an 'agent of change'. Please see below for an example of what one of these collective worships would look like:

The Archbishop Award offers Bishop Bronescombe a tangible and meaningful way to explore with pupils how our vision — “We share our gifts and talents, and with God's help, they can become something amazing” — can be put into practice every day.
During our after-school sessions, pupils investigate, explore, reflect on, and apply our school values, including perseverance, courage, respect, forgiveness, compassion and trust. They also consider the wider Christian values of humility, endurance, justice, wisdom, and hope, with a particular focus on what it means to challenge injustice and live out the Christian principle of serving others.
The Award has empowered us as a school to facilitate pupil-led action, and pupils are encouraged to complete mini challenges at home. These have included cooking meals for family members, making bird feeders, litter picking at a local beach, and reading stories to younger siblings. The children have embraced these challenges wholeheartedly and are excited for the next steps in their journey.

Our Eco-Saviours Committee are very passionate about caring for our world and have worked hard to raise awareness of environmental issues within our school.
Our hard work has been recognised and we are very pleased that we have been awarded an Eco -School Green Flag!
Our Eco-Saviours have conducted an environmental review and from this, they have produced an action plan.
